Green Horizons Environmental Research Initiatives Uganda Limited (GHERI-UG) is a company limited by guarantee registered in Uganda under the Companies Act No. 1 of 2012. Our registered address is P.O. Box 210297, Kampala, Uganda.

2. Information We Collect

Information you give us directly:

When you use the contact or partnership inquiry form, or make a donation, we collect the information you provide, which may include your name, organisation, email address, phone number, type of partnership, message content, and payment-related details processed through our payment provider (see Section 6).

Information collected automatically:

Like most websites, this site uses cookies and similar analytics tools to understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are viewed and how long visitors stay. This may include your IP address, browser type, device information, and general location (country/city level). We use this information in aggregate to improve the site; we do not use it to identify you personally.

Cookies:

Cookies are small files stored on your device. This site shows a cookie notice on your first visit, which you can accept or decline non-essential cookies, and you can also control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect how some parts of this site work. Where analytics tools are added to the site, we name them here: this site uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate visitor traffic.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Respond to your inquiry or partnership request
• Process and acknowledge donations
• Understand how visitors use the site, so we can improve it
• Communicate with you about GHERI-UG’s work, only where you have asked us to or given consent
• Meet legal, regulatory, or reporting obligations

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

4. Who We Share Information With

We may share information with:

• Service providers who help us operate the site or process donations (for example a payment processor, an email or form-handling service, or an analytics provider), under obligations to protect your information and use it only for the purpose we’ve asked them to
• Government or regulatory authorities, where required by law
• A successor organisation, in the event of a merger, restructuring, or similar organisational change, on the same terms as this policy

5. International Transfers

Some service providers we use (for example analytics or payment processors) may store or process information outside Uganda. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information continues to receive an appropriate level of protection.

6. Donations & Payments

When you make a donation through this website, payment details are handled directly by our third-party payment processor. GHERI-UG does not store your full card or payment account details. Please also refer to your payment provider’s own privacy policy for how they handle your payment information.

7. How Long We Keep Information

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, for example, to respond to your inquiry, maintain donation records for financial accountability, or meet legal requirements, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you are located, you may have the right to:

• Know what personal information we hold about you
• Request a copy of it
• Ask us to correct inaccurate information
• Ask us to delete your information, where we are not required to keep it
• Object to or restrict certain uses of your information
• Withdraw consent, where our use of your information is based on consent

To exercise any of these rights, contact our Programme Data Officer (PDO) at privacy@gheriug.org. We will respond within a reasonable time and in line with applicable law, including Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019.

9. Children’s Privacy

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this site.

10. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
